The son of famed U-2 pilot Fancis Gary Powers, author and commentator on Cold War issues, Gary also served as consultant for Steven Spielberg's Bridge of Spies, the movie that recounted the story of his father's capture by Russia and his return to the U.S. after an exchange with Russian spy Rudolph Abel.
