Arkansas Heritage Awards $400,000 to NCWC

BLYTHEVILLE, Ark. (April 15, 2023) - The Division of Arkansas Heritage, a part of the Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage & Tourism, announced on February 15 at their headquarters that The National Cold War Center was one of five recipients to receive funding from the Arkansas Cultural Institutions Trust Fund.

“We are honored to be among the Cultural Institutions Trust Fund recipients,” said Mary Gay Shipley, chair of the NCWC organization. “Our project is in an early but critical stage of development, and we appreciate the vote of confidence from Arkansas Heritage. We also are proud to be in the company of other museums who are working so hard to preserve essential pieces of Arkansas history.”

The funding will be used to undertake facade restorations and preservations for the SAC Alert Facility at the former Blytheville Air Force Base. The Alert Facility at Blytheville was an important military installation during the Cold War, and will serve as the primary exhibit of The National Cold War Center.
